Sunday Rob and I woke to one sick little boy. He wasn't eating, he was tired and just not his zippy little self. His situation got worse after we found disgorged remnants on the carpet Monday morning. He still wasn't eating and barely drinking. Today, Tuesday, Rob took him in as soon as he got off work. He was frail, scared and dehydrated. The hospital kept him the entire day hooked up to an IV, giving him anti acids, blood work...the entire gamut. After his therapy all day today he STILL wasn't eating. They let him come home with us today to see if we could get him to eat in the comforts of his own home. He was much more alert and attentive when he was returned to us. We even gave him food around 6 o'clock tonight and he has kept it down! We have to bring him back tomorrow morning so they can further assess his progress. It is a good sign he is eating then we can get him on some meds to help him get back to peak form.
There is my chihuahua saga. Manchu is a trooper and I know he will be back to his old self soon. The martini collar on him is so he doesn't scratch or chew at his catheter for his IV. Apparently putting one of those in costs $80...who knew? He is very much a fashion plate with this ensemble in purple with blue polka dots.
On a different note.... Here are some pictures from my 5th Annual Art field trip. This year it was a 4th and a 5th grade class. Both of these teachers have gone on my special art trips before. We all got to eat our lunch down in a great fountain area. The MCAM has this super architectural landscape around the art museum.
It was a great group of kids this year. Most of them I have know since they were in Kindergarten so it was really wonderful to have them on this trip with me! Remember these are the students that were able to behave themselves the ENTIRE school year! The top two classes get to go on the art field trip at the end of the school year. I love taking kids to art museums...I love the reactions kids have to art because these contemporary museums have great "outside of the box" creative thinking. They realize its okay to look at the world through a different perspective!
