Preston Turning One
It has truly been a whirlwind of activity for us at the end of 2011. We watched our son turn 1, recalled all the excitment a years past and started to look towards what the future holds for us in 2012. Our New Years Eve day was filled with friends and food to help celebrate our son's 1st year of life. I made a shirt for him. It said Turning 1 is Fun! On the back it said Team Preston (A little Twilight humor). The black pen has since permanently smodged so it doesn't look as nice as it did here.
Preston loved seeing all his guests arrive, he welcomed everyone with his usual grin and the party officially got underway. I had a slideshow of Preston's memorable pictures flipping through on the TV, he played with all his "little" little party goers on the floor while more and more people piled into the house. I guess the yard sign and balloons outside were working.

The Food set up! Yum!
We had people start eating all the goods and we got Preston out in his highchair to start his VERY FIRST candle blowing and cake eating milestone. Preston was a little apprehensive at first but then he really started to get into the frosting with a little encouragement.
Then it was on to the gift opening. We had lots of fun starting to tear them open and he would rip some for himself. All our friends were there watching; oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over his gifts. Preston had a blast and was so well behaved. I was waiting for the meltdown to occur, but it never came. He even crashed out for a nap once everyone had cleared out.

Opening the Gifts
There were so many pictures from his party I will have to put them on Flickr another day.
Some may call me crazy but two days later we were packed and on the way to the airport to go see Nana, Uncle Jon and all our extended family in Boston. The 19 degree welcome temp was a true shell shock from the 75 degrees we left in Arizona. We had a wonderful time there! Rob's Dad and brother Ray even drove over from Staten Island to come meet Preston for the first time. A truly exciting moment. Preston hadn't met his Grandpa and Uncle Ray until then. I even got a picture of the generations as a keepsake. It was wonderful to see them and to spend some quality time.

Three Generations of Naylors
No sooner than the Naylor men arrived we had to start getting ready for party #2 for Preston. My mother couldn't resist throwing a birthday bash for her grandson. Who was I to deny her that, even though we had a super great celebration back home. We had missed Christmas and New Year's family gatherings so it was SO GREAT to get to see all my relatives at the house to celebrate our boy's first year. It is times likes these I wished we were closer to home. Everyone was so excited to see our little man and I don't think Preston minded much at all that he got to eat some more birthday cake.

This kid knows how to PARTY!
We very blessed to have such loving family and friends to help make this time so special. What a great way to start off 2012! We send out all our best wishes to everyone! Thank you SO much!
Here is a little T.S. Elliot...
For last year's words belong to last year's language and next year's words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning.
