First Round of Festivities Down

The Arizona evenings have finally dropped in temperature. You can go outside and actually feel a cool crisp breeze, a favorite time of the year for me. It let's me remember the chilly nights of New England weather without actually seeing snow fall before Halloween.

My poor mother and brother both suffered 3 days without power, talk about roughing it. The snow came way too early, even for all my Massachusetts family. Sending warm thoughts.

Once I put socks on Preston's feet we joined Daddy outside for our 1st annual fall s'mores. Rob had a plate set out ready for us to enjoy by a warm fire in the pit. We roasted and toasted our marshmallows, even Preston got a little nibble. Over the course of the next couple days Rob accumulated outside Halloween decor for the house. He had everything up and lit when I got home one day.

The best part is, as soon as I pulled up to the house today i didn't see any lights or decorations. Rob, true to form, has disassembled and stored ALL the Halloween paraphernalia. When I asked him about it, he simply said "it's over".

We accepted an invite to our neighbors Halloween party. A potluck/ BBQ set up, a big bounce house, two tents with tables, skeleton heads lined the perimeter and every other inch screamed Halloween! Preston watched kids hit a piñata, jump in the bounce house and he clapped his way into the hearts of our new neighbors. Great party and we now feel a part of the neighborhood.

Even though the festivities are truly over, Preston loved watching people come to the house for treating. Most people enjoyed seeing a little duck welcoming them at the door. He took great fascination with the candy. No surprise there. His parents are choco'aholics. Our little duckling kept us on our toes, dipping into the bowl every 5 minutes. We had about 40 treaters and a fourth of our bought candy left. No trick or treating for us, next year for sure!

PS I must admit we are guilty of re- costuming from last year. Pacman and blinky got to see another Halloween.
