Thursday night Rob comes back from work and tells me that he has Saturday thru Monday off. We flip into high gear and start getting ready for a trip to Payson, AZ. Our friends Vicki and Steve planned this trip a while back and we declined. Gratefully Rob's hectic valet schedule allowed us to have some Labor Day weekend fun after all.

Payson about 100 miles out of the valley brought us up several thousand feet of elevation. The temperature dropped to the high 70's once we got up to the campsite. People set up their tents and just enjoyed the nature of it all amongst the tall pines. We did get some rain during the night on and off. Chef Steve and James cooked us up breakfast on their grills each morning, sandwiches for lunch and steaks and burgers the other nights. Smores galore for dessert....you can't beat that! The trip was much needed! A thanks to Vicki and Steve for organizing the trip and letting us tag along on such last minute notice. Manchu barely barked the entire camping trip, now he is home and its strange to hear him again. Rob was totally in his element with all his camping gear, he really needed a good weekend out in the sticks. A great escape from the grind!

Jen, Steve, Matt and Vicki.

Mando, Mike and Brandy.

The Byrd family.
The trip was a success, the boys got some shootin' in before it started to pour, Manchu and Ruger are now camp proof, Rob Paul Bunyan-ed his way through 2 large trees, I got to be compared to Paris Hilton with my chihuahua on my lap while texting a friend, we widened our movie/actor knowledge by the nightly campfire, overdosed on smores and shared a much needed communal commode. Thanks to all that went and made it a memorable Labor Day weekend. The PRIUS MADE IT!
Here is the crew post-camping weekend...
